Special School and Vocational Center for M H

 

The organization has been maintaining a  Special School   and Vocational Center for M H and providing need based services for the Education and rehabilitation of the children with Intellectual & Multiple Disabilities in both day & residential care prospects at Naspur.

 

SWARNA SWAYAM KRUSHI SOCIETY Educational Society has been maintaining  Special School and Vocational Centre for Mentally Handicapped in both day & residential care prospects with the financial aid our own funds and public donations. It has been imparting all kinds of services such as special education, welfare & rehabilitation services including physiotherapy, speech therapy, kiddy bank, psychosocial interventions, music therapy and yoga therapy. Most of the children are taught self-help and academic skills pertaining to classrooms and home based environment. The centre wise distributions of enrolled persons with Mentally Handicappedl disabilities during the year 2013-14 are as such:  The professionals are evaluating the children’s performance in the presence of their parents at the end of every quarter and maintain records as such.

 

The institute also focuses on the individual’s development at the fullest possible extent of the children with intellectual & multiple disabilities through the qualitative services. It encourages them to participate in sports, games and cultural activities to exhibit their talents in several occasions. Apart from the special education & training, this institute has also conducted some special events, in which children with special needs and the faculty of the institute have actively participated and these are:

 

Diagnosis & Assessment through Multidisciplinary Team:

The Multidisciplinary team of the institute which constitutes Physiotherapist, Psychologist, Special Educator, Care Givers, etc has assessed & diagnosed the persons with different abilities and developed intervention plan for their all-round development and maintains record as such.  The MDT has assessed a total of 16 new cases during the reporting period and developed individualized rehabilitation plans.

 

Provision of home visits by professionals:

Apart from the centre base rehabilitation services to the children with intellectual & multiple disabilities, this institute has been also extending its services in home based environment. Under this, the professionals are visiting the houses of the needy persons with severe / multiple disabilities on every Saturday and providing need based intervention in the home based environment by using local teaching & training materials. They are also providing training to the parents / siblings and motivating them to yield good results. Thus a total of 39 such children were benefited during the reporting period.

 

Independence Day Celebrations:

The  School for the intellectual & Multiple Disabilities has conducted a programme on the eve of Independence Day celebrations at the institute premises on 15.08.2013 for which Sri A. J. Sameyal, Social Welfare Officer was the chief guest and hoisted the National Flag. On this occasion, the children with special needs of this institute have participated in cultural programmes and exhibited their talents. The special needs children have won several prize, the public, print & electronic media have covered and appreciated the programme and children for their outstanding performance.

 

Extracurricular Activities Development Programme:

This institute has been equally focusing on the extracurricular and curricular development activities and practice every day as part of their co-curriculum in the special school premises. It has been imparting the services in Painting, Drawing, Physical Exercise, Group Therapy, Music & Dance etc, where the special teachers are practicing in graded manner for the children with intellectual & multiple disabilities. Many of the children have shown good progress in many areas and learnt many basic skills during the reporting period.

 

Parents Meetings:

The Center has been conducting parents meetings and discussing all the issues which are essential to the development of appropriate rehabilitation services at the center premises on every month, which is presiding by Sri.S.Anjaneyulu, Principal of the Institute. Thus a total of 11 such meetings were conducted by the institute during the reporting period.

 

Mother Teresa’s Birthday celebrations

A function was arranged on 26-08-2013 at the institute premises on the eve of Mother Teresa’s Birthday celebration. In this function the Principal of this institute has addressed the children with special needs, faculty and public and on the commitment, dedication, and the great human services of Mother Teresa in serving the society. On this occasion a cultural event was conducted in which the children with intellectual disabilities have exhibited their talents.

 

Rally on World Mental Health:

The centre has organized a Rally on the Mental Health Week celebration 2013 with a view to create awareness among the public on the issues related to mental illness and their Rehabilitation.  The Rally was started from School for the Intellectual & Multiple Disabilities, Nasapur. In this rally a total of 65 persons with different abilities, Rehabilitation Professionals, Community Key persons were participated.

 

Gandhi Jayanthi Celebrations:

The School for the Intellectual & Multiple Disabilities has arranged a special programmeon the eve of Gandhi Jyanthi Celebration on 2nd October 2013 in which all the children with special needs along with their parents and Head of this organization were participated and enjoyed the events.

 

Celebration & Functions

In order to promote the social & recreational skills among the children with intellectual & Multiple Disabilities, the  School for the Intellectual & Multiple Disabilities has arranged special programmes on the eve on Celebration of National Festivals of all religion and birthday of children, in which they are actively participating and enjoying the events.

 

Most of the time the institute arranging cultural events in which the children with intellectual & multiple Disabilities were actively participating and earning good appreciations from the public, which help to move forward with courage and confidence for the betterment.

 

World Disabled Day Celebrations

The  School for the Intellectual & Multiple Disabilities has arranged a special programme on the eve of world disabled day celebration on 03.12.2013 at the institute premises. On this occasion this institute has conducted cultural events in which the children with intellectual & Multiple disabilities were participated in various events and won several prizes.

 

This institute has also arranged a rally in view to raise the awareness among the public on the issues related to disabilities and rehabilitation and promotion of their rights & advocacy.

 

Republic Day Celebrations:

The Institute has arranged a special function on the eve of Republic Day celebrations at the special school premises, 26.01.2014 for which Dr. Ramana Rao, Medical Officer was the chief guest. Hoisted the National Flag and addressed the children with special needs, management and entire faculty of the Institute and distributed fruits & sweets to the children with disabilities as token of love & affection. On these occasions, this institute has also arranged a special function for aids & appliances distribution to the needy persons with disabilities for which Dr. Ramana Rao, Medical Officer was the chief guest. In this function this institute has distributed, 02 Tricycles, 03 Walkers, 02 Hearing Aids to the needy persons with disabilities.
